52-year old Macallan 1946 Select Reserve

Because to the high post-war prices of coal, this Macallan 1946 is somewhat rare in that it is made using peated malt. In our opinion, it’s also among the best Macallans that have ever been released. It took a while for the distillery to sell through the original supply of this because it was fairly enormous. But, it is now acknowledged as a classic Macallan, and its standing is secure.

For a large portion of the 20th century, it may be difficult to imagine today. The main use of Macallan 1946 Select Reserve 52 Year Old is as a component malt in blends. It didn’t happen until the market collapse of the 1980s. The distillery made the decision to concentrate on its single malt brand.
