Colonel eh taylor small batch Bourbon is one of many versions crafted by E.H. Taylor and still produced at the award-wining Buffalo Trace Distillery. This small batch of bourbon was crafted from Mash Bill #1, like other great blends such as Eagle Rare, Buffalo Trace, and George T. Stagg. It is a sour mash of corn, rye, and malted barley, which has a lower content of rye, than mash bill #2. This bourbon is sweet and rich with notes of rich caramel corn, mingled with sweet hints of butterscotch, and undertones of licorice. The finish is soft and warm with subtle hints of pepper and tobacco.

During this time, other distilleries weren’t aging their bourbon, some distillers and retailers were inclusively adding juices and syrups to sweeten their bourbons, while others added acid and tobacco to give their bourbon its signature Amber hue. Instead, E.H. Taylor used his distilling experience and political pedigree, to partner with Treasury Secretary John G. Carlisle. Together they were instrumental in changing history. In 1897 they passed the Bottled-In-Bond Act. pappy van winkle for sale
This meant that any spirit labeled as “Bonded” or “Bottled-in-Bond” must be the product of only one distiller, one distillery, during one distillation season. Additionally, the Act required that bonded spirits were supervised by the U.S. government for at least four years and to be bottled at least 100 proof, in federally bonded warehouses. It represents the way bourbon was produced in the days before Prohibition when Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was the owner of Buffalo Trace Distillery. pappy van winkle price,
